Daniel Caruana
Daniel Caruana was called to the Queensland Bar in 2015, having been admitted as a legal practitioner in 2012. He predominately practices in criminal law, with a particular interest in Commonwealth criminal offences and regulatory prosecutions.
Prior to joining the private Bar, Daniel was a Senior Federal Prosecutor with the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. He prosecuted Commonwealth offences in Brisbane and Adelaide, in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts of those jurisdictions. His work included prosecuting Commonwealth frauds, white collar corporate crime, large drug importations and child exploitation material offences. He joined the Office of the Commonwealth DPP in 2011.
Daniel appears regularly in criminal trials, criminal appeals and complex sentencing proceedings. Since being called to the Bar he has continued to prosecute Commonwealth criminal matters and has developed particular expertise in prosecuting and defending regulatory matters such as proceedings under the Work Health and Safety Act.
Daniel graduated from the University of Queensland with Bachelors of Laws and Arts in 2011. He is a member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Bar Association of Queensland.
